EMC problems of TFT-LCD Driver IC

TFT LCD module requires low EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference) characteristics for Home appliances.As we know,TFT- LCD module violates EMC specification more frequently than CRT in the FCC regulations.That is because LCD module (LCM) has a lot of high-frequency and high-speed electronic devices.These devices include time controller or LCD display driver ICs.These devices as EMI noise sources,since the clock frequency of interface for devices usually is several hundreds of kilohertz.The phenomenon causes EMC problems in LCM.

EMC solution method is divided into three levels:IC level, plane level and system level.For LCD module, the plane level approach is the general method in the industry. TFT-LCD module is constituted of LCD panel,main SMPS,time controller (source PCB),and others.EMC problems of LCD module are fixed traditionally by the amendment of time controller because ICs in time controller operate at high frequency.It depends on attaching or detaching beads and bypass or decoupling capacitors.This method is restricted to the specific display resolution or LCD panel size because time controller is designed separately according to LCD panel size.Whereas source PCB, LCD Driver IC is nearly irrelevant to LCD module specification. 

For the analysis of EMC problems,LDI in IC level is the important part simulated,due to LDI is one of the EMI noise source.The recently research indicated that the power or ground noise reduction of LDI must be more fundamental solution for EMC problem in TFT-LCD module than conventional coverage.And a logical design for EMC can be applicable to such LDI.
