Tolerance of thickness

Tolerance of thickness is about 0.5mm for our display modules. For our 4.3'' LCD module display, the stantard thickness is 8mm. It is normal if the value is between 7.5 and 8.5. However, for dustproof purpose, we changed the design andmake the thickness be 7.35 in theory. So there is 0.65mm difference for the old version and new version.
One customer wrote to us and found a mechanical problem with the shipment of display terminals. The story is like this: we arranged two shipments for the same model seperately. They wrote to us almost 1 month after they received the goods. The TFT incl. touchscreen of the newest shipments have now a thickness of 7.3 to7.8mm, measured on several locations. The thickness of TFT incl. touch was 8.4 ?8.9 mm for the earlier shipments. This means that the surface of the touch is now approximately 1mm deeper than before! Therefore, the mechanical design does not work anymore, the clearance between our front foil and the touch pad is now way too large!
This is a serious problem because users have to press the foil heavily until the display module responds (this happens because there is now 1mm clearance). In order to save time and shipping cost for the goods return from foreign courtiers, the customer is advised to solve the problem this way: paste a transparent foil of adequate thickness (0.5mm as reference value. It depends on the actual condition of your product) on the back of the transparent window of the original foil to make the space between the new foil and the touch screen be 0.2-0.5mm. Then send them to the users. Please ask the users kindly to tear off the original foil and paste the new one. Maybe this is the most economic way to solve the problem.
